We hear a lot about the importance of supporting local and choosing Australian made products, but in a market that is saturated with so many options and claims, you’d be forgiven for getting so easily overwhelmed.
So, what should you be looking for on your next grocery shop, and why is it so important?
Australian made AND owned?
First up, there’s a difference between products that are made in Australia, but not necessarily owned by an Australian company. For example, a yoghurt brand may produce their product in Australia, using local ingredients, but are actually owned by a larger, international corporation. Here at MOO not only are all our products made in Australia, we’re also Australian owned- MOO founders Mick & Sally Sanders started MOO back in 2007, in South Australia.
How does this make a difference?
As an Australian owned company the impact of supporting MOO has a direct flow-on effect on the rest of the Australian economy. How? Every time you buy MOO you can be guaranteed we’re putting these funds straight back into the Australian market; from delivery drivers, tub suppliers, dairy farmers, designers, web developers and more, the exponential impact is huge and will only have a positive effect on the economy. Sounds good to us!
How can you support local?
Easy! Next time you’re deciding what to purchase look for Australian owned companies and remember, just because a product is made locally doesn’t mean it’s owned locally. So how can you find out? Many brands may include this on their packaging or in their brand story, you can also hit up their website and head to the ‘About Us’ section which will give you a good indication. Who are the people behind a brand? More importantly, who are you supporting? You can read more about the MOO story here.
